What was the name of the bacteria that survived after the dinosaurs extinction?

Ok this is a weird question, but I remember learning about some kind of bacteria that evolved after the dinosaurs became extinct. I think it started with a “t” but I’m not sure. It was sort of oblong and the pictures showed it as being grey.
Maybe it wasn’t bacteria, but it was some kind of tiny organism?

    THE bacteria? I doubt whether ANY bacteria died during the wipe out of the dinosaurs!
