I like reading books about Dinosaurs of all kinds, even though I am a Film major at University. I have always wondered why Dinosuars existed, what their purpose was? Did they exist for practicle reasons such as keeping the earth’s prehistorical ecological systems in balance or just because they were apart of the Earth’s evolutionary process? Can anyone provide an answer? Thanks very much!

I know that it was hot and humid and it rained a lot but clearly there must have been cold winters. So I wondered if it snowed when the dinosaurs lived on earth and how they got through the cold winters.
Pangaea split hundreds of millions years ago and certain dinosaurs, mammoths and people came about long after it. So what is the probability that both continents have the exact same animals?
For instance, with the Loch Ness monster everyone always assumes it draws air. How come we know that both Nessie and marine dinosaurs don’t have gills?
In other words, why aren’t there dinosaurs today but millions of other animals who did survive?
So, what was the determining factor in what species survived and what didn’t?
